Tehran.....here I come!!!

Today I got the news about my long awaited oversea tour-of-duty. It appears that I won't be going straight to Dubai, but instead to Tehran, Iran. If everything goes right, I'll be going right after CNY holiday and back just before the Iran (or Persian) new year (16/03 ~ 04/04/08). Can you believe it? A country's new year's holiday runs for 3 weeks? Well, looks like I have to get ready with my winter clothings......it's 0 to 10 degrees in Tehran....The coldest I've experienced was just above 10.....but I think my jackets from my USA years can still fit me....but I have to find a pair of mittens and a snow cap.....It's important to take care of your extremities, such as fingers, toes and ears, in the cold weather..... And this would be my 2nd time going overseas after almost 12 years working in Sony.....but this time, I'll make the most of it.....

A farewell to a friend

Amidst the excitement of going to Dubai for the "tour of duty", we received a sad news that one of our friends had succumbed to a bout with diabetes and passed away. Yushaidy collapsed at his house on the 2nd of January and was taken to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban where his condition deteriorated. He was in comatose ever-since. Yesterday, at about 5:20pm, our friend answered the call of Allah and left behind a pregnant wife and 3 young kids. One of them still on the wheelchair after a freak accident some years back. Almost everyone that I met at work shed their tears.....those who know him will testify that he was a really good man...a good friend to everyone....he will be missed. Let's pray that Allah will put his soul amongst the souls of those who received His blessings. Al-Fatihah....

11 years and counting

28/12/07 marks our 11th wedding anniversary.....it seems like yesterday that there were only two of us in the family.....now there are five. I am really, really grateful and thankful to the Almighty Allah for giving me the opportunity to meet this lovely lady and to love her. And I will always love her with all my heart. This is the lady who endured three caesarian sections to deliver to me three lovely children in 1998, 2001 and 2004. This is the lady who stuck with me through thick and thin....always there for me when I needed her....I could go on and on....hehehe... Because of that....I LOVE YOU!!!! HAPPY 11TH ANNIVERSARY......

Instant Celeb????

Suddenly, almost everyone I met at work shaked my hand and asked about my Dubai trip....instant celeb...hehehehe..... My OFG friend, Khairi, called me this morning. It turned out that he too volunteered for this trip but didn't make it. There's also another friend who volunteer as well, but didn't make too. Somehow, I felt like Dr Sheikh Muszaphar...our first astronaut....well of course I'm not as handsome as he is. It's no big deal anyway...I'm going there to work and as Mr Roslan said....I must do better than I do at SOEM....hmmm...of course I will.....I'm shouldering the reputations of SOEM and Malaysia over there..... I'm still hoping that Amin could make it.....The SoGul MD wanted a Production Engineer and a Planner. Amin is a planner and a good friend of mine...even our wives know each other....his wife was my wife's junior in UKM. He volunteered....but since his boss is on a Biz Trip in Japan, the decision is put on hold....Anyway...here's hoping.
